Rodent in My Room

Friday, August 17th, 2007

The movie Ratatouille that is on cinema recently somehow reminded me of the rat that was in my room quite sometime ago. It was during my student life when I was still living with my coursemates in Setapak. Back then, we’ve just newly shifted into a new house and we found out that there was a rat problem.

It was only one big fat rat that gave us all sorts of problems. (Believe me…this was one real smart rat). Initially, it just cause menace in our kitchen. Somehow we found out how it got into our house which was through the sliding glass window in the kitchen. So we blocked it. We were very sure it won’t cause us any troubles anymore. Well, not to others at least…but to me and my roommate.

It has found another haven…. my room! There were one or two occasions when we were both sound asleep. Then it crept into our room through the window. I still haven’t figured out how it climb up there cause my room is upstairs. Anyway, it scared the hell out of me and my roomie. We shut the window before we sleep every night eversince.

When semester break came, all of us went back to our respective hometown of course. I spent my holiday without much thought of that rodent. After that (I don’t quite remember how long), I went back to my house. Alas, that sly rat had been partying in my room. The extent of the damage was so unbearable. Apart from rat poo all over my room, it has been biting everything it got its teeth on. I found only empty packages of my Tiger biscuit and Chupa chups that I left in the room. It has also left its mark on my wooden hairbrush which I have no choice but to throw it away. Sadly, it has found a certain fondness towards the little stuffed koala bear too. It was a gift from a good friend of mine. That rat has bitten off the poor little bear’s butt…Sigh… I have to clean up all the mess.

So that’s it. I’ve had enough of the rat’s mischief. I declared war on that particular rat! I remember getting a rat trap but I don’t remember ever catching it. (Did we, my housemates?) But then there weren’t any troubles from it eversince.

I guess adorable rodents can only exists in movies like Ratatouille. It is about a rat talented in cooking French cuisine but  the rat in my room can only be talented in freaking me out. I’m sure the word ratatouille exists in French but I don’t know what it means. Seems appropriate for this movie though… Sounds like a dish made by a rat… ‘Rat’-atouille… Hehe. Haven’t watch the movie yet though. Should I?

Tragedy

Today, as every Monday morning, I drive from Ipoh to Taiping to work. Things seems as usual as I was nearing the Changkat Jering. But right before i reach Bukit Gantang rest area… All the cars slowed down to a halt. I wondered what’s in front. As I was nearing the cause of the traffic jam, I saw ambulances and firetrucks. So i knew there was an accident. I guess it was a major one as there were so many cars around. Many cars pulled over… and then I saw reporters rushing to scene. In my mind I think, this must be real bad. I n front of me, there’s a trailer (dunno if its called a trailer) lifting up something from the ravine but I couldn’t make out what it was. As my car neared the scene, what I saw was really disturbing and can make anybody felt uneasy. So many dead bodies were lying on the floor. It was covered but I can still see their feet. The trailer was actually lifting the roof of a red colour express bus. OMG, I need to get out of that place…quick. One glance is enough.

Because of the jam, I was late for work. When I reach the hospital, everyone was actually talking about the same thing. Many doctors were called up to the casualty to help out the injured. There was a boy in ICU now which the whereabouts of his family were unknown. There were so many people (relatives of the dead i guess) flocking at the morgue while reporters were everywhere in the hospital compound.

I was told that today were the first day of the Hungry Ghost month. Coincidence? Hmmm…

Busy but Happy Month

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

The month of July came and went. Can’t believe it passed so fast…like a blink of an eye to me. It has been a super tiring month for me. As most of you all would know, my bf came back for holiday and due to that i have been busy meeting friends and going around with him. (Practically the whole Msia!…Nah, just exaggerating). In just one month, I have been to 3 different movies, went to KL for 2 times, Cameron Highlands as well as Penang.

First time to Kl was to find his relatives and second time was to spend some quality time on our own as well as getting together with his friends in KL. Coincidentally, it was Harry Potter last book launching date. That’s when I found out about the selling price of RM69.90 in Carrefour n Tesco. Wouldn’t miss this opportunity for the world… I quickly grab one and finish reading it after a few days. Too bad there’s so many spoilers around I didnt found out the ending on my own.. Sigh…

After a one day rest, we head to Penang Island just for the food… penang laksa, prawn mee, cendol and char kuey teow. My bf was craving for those coz he cant get those stuff in Hawaii.Just a short trip as I have to work the next day.

Amidst my hectic (but having fun) schedule, my immune system started to fail me… getting symptoms of flu a few days before my Cameron trip. Luckily it was only cough n running nose but no fever. At the same time, my bro got chicken pox. Hmmm…get well soon bro… In the end, I decided to go Cameron anyway although I’m not fully recovered. Didnt regret the decision coz I had loads fun (and loads of food too ;-).. )

So, I foresee myself slowing down a bit this month of August but nevertheless socializing and traveling are still in my dictionary =). Heading to Malacca end of this month…. Haha.
